Procedures on the thighs, inner or outer thigh lifts, and thigh liposuction aim to reduce the volume of the thighs that is considered too large and unsightly.
Objectives of the intervention
In most cases, liposuction of the thighs is sufficient to cause skin retraction and significantly reduce volume on the inner or outer thighs. An inner thigh lift is recommended either as a second step if skin retraction is insufficient, or from the outset when there is clearly too much excess skin.
An outer thigh lift is performed when there is too much excess skin on the outer thigh after liposuction of the area known as the saddlebags. Unlike an inner thigh lift, the skin scar remains visible on the outer thigh.
The intervention
The lifting effect is localized and does not affect the front or lower part of the thigh or the knee.
A thigh lift is performed at the same time as liposuction for thighs that are considered too large with loose skin. A thigh lift involves tightening the skin on the upper and inner thighs by removing a wedge-shaped section of skin from the creases between the thigh and the perineum: the scars are hidden between the thighs and are therefore barely visible.
Liposuction is not necessary for patients with thin, shapely thighs; in this case, only a thigh lift is required.
Postoperative care
Postoperative care is generally straightforward, and patients can be discharged on the same day or the day after the procedure. Patients are required to wear compression panties for four weeks after the procedure. Skin scars should be washed morning and evening to prevent the risk of infection.
