Lipofilling or lipostructure involves using the patient's own fat as an implant to correct facial volume.
Objectives of the intervention
Lipofilling or lipostructure involves using the patient's own fat as a corrective implant to increase the volume of certain parts of the face, such as the cheekbones, chin, or cheeks.
Lipostructure can be used to fill areas of the face lacking volume. Fat reinjection can be adapted to all areas of the face. What's more, the results are long-lasting. It involves a genuine transfer of fat tissue grafted into the injection area of the face.
The intervention
During lipostructure, the patient's fat is first removed by liposuction (from the waist, knees, etc.), then centrifuged to retain only intact, living fat cells. The fat tissue is then injected into areas of the face that need volume enhancement.
Postoperative care
As with any transplant, it is never possible to guarantee that all of the transferred tissue will take. In practice, additional sessions are possible, and it is therefore not necessary to overcorrect the volumes.
