FUE Hair Transplant at the Phénicia Clinic: Instructions and Procedure

There are certain factors to consider before your outpatient procedure.

Certain guidelines must be followed:

  • We recommend that you eat breakfast before the procedure. A snack will be served at midday.
  • You will need to take a few precautions during the nights following the procedure, and remember to use a travel pillow so that you do not rest the grafted area(s) on your pillow while you sleep, which could cause grafts that have not yet adhered to the scalp to fall out.
  • You should sleep in a semi-reclining position to allow the swelling to subside.
  • You will need to perform some aftercare at home for a few days, and you will be given a prescription on the day of your procedure.
  • You will be asked to have a blood test to check for any vitamin deficiencies so that these can be treated. A PCR test will also be requested for the day of the procedure.
  • Take a shirt for the end of the transplant; do not wear anything that goes over your head, as it could snag the grafts.
  • A trusted person should come to pick you up on the same day to take you back to your home, preferably. Short solo trips by car are possible but not recommended.
  • No wearing caps, hats, or hoods for 15 days, and no motorcycle helmets for at least 3 weeks.

The day of the outpatient hair implant procedure at the Clinique Phénicia transplant center

  • When you arrive on the day of the procedure, we will first take care of all the administrative formalities.
  • You will then be accompanied to your room in the outpatient area, where you can leave your belongings and change before going to the operating room.
  • An assistant will then accompany you upstairs to where your hair transplant will take place. A series of photos will be taken to assess the results during your before-and-after comparison.
  • In consultation with your doctor , you will define the areas to be treated.
  • We will then proceed to shave the scalp.
  • Preparation for surgery will begin with the first part of the procedure, during which the patient will lie on their stomach and the contours of the donor area will be marked out. This will be followed by anesthesia and the harvesting phase will begin. Once all the grafts have been harvested, a temporary dressing will be placed on the donor area and you will be served a snack.
  • The second phase of the procedure then begins, during which we start by making incisions across the entire area, then the grafts are reimplanted one by one. At the very end of the procedure, the implanted area will be cleaned and a dressing will be applied to the donor area. You will be given full instructions on what to do when you return home. We will remain available to answer any questions you may have.

The progress of your hair transplant: We'll be in touch!

You have undergone a hair transplant and have questions about how it will progress. Of course, as with any procedure, the results are not immediate, and your scalp will go through different stages before achieving the desired outcome:
  • Small excess skin forming small scabs will appear at each implant site, but these will disappear within a few weeks. At the graft harvest site, the scar is linear, usually very fine, and barely visible.
  • Between thethird and fifth week, the implanted hair will fall out: the bulbs will remain and, within a few months, will produce stronger, more resistant hair. This process is entirely logical in the evolution of the transplant, since the transplanted hair then begins a normal hair cycle, just like the rest of the hair.
  • The first regrowth will begin around the4th/5th month, and regrowth will continue to progress until the 12th month, when the final result will become apparent .
For post-operative follow-up care after your hair transplant at the Clinic, we will support you over a period of twelve months until the final result is achieved. We look forward to accompanying you throughout this hair restoration journey. Once the procedure is complete, a post-operative follow-up program will be carried out to monitor the progress of your hair transplant with you. In parallel with your check-up visits, we will monitor the progress of your transplant by offering you various treatments to optimize the results of your transplant.

PRP and LED sessions

This program will be established with the patient on the day of their transplant or a few days later. PRP and LED sessions are strongly recommended and should be carried out:
  •  between the 8th and 10th day after the procedure,
  • then two months after the transplant
  • and finally in the fourth month after the procedure.
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) involves taking a blood sample and placing it in a centrifuge, which allows us to recover the platelet-rich plasma, which retains all its protein and growth factor content, essential for the success of the treatment. It is then reinjected into the scalp. PRP injection, indicated as part of a hair transplant, will improve blood flow to the transplanted area, strengthen the resistance of hair implants to promote hair regrowth, and stimulate hair follicle cells. In a second step, the patient will be positioned under LED light, which will stimulate scalp cells and enhance the effects of PRP. The LED lamp will have anti-inflammatory and healing properties, improve blood circulation and oxygenation of hair implants.

Postoperative consultation:

The results of the transplant will only be visible after 4 to 5 months. In order to monitor the patient after their transplant and observe their progress with them, a post-operative appointment will be scheduled starting on Six months after surgery, and another attwelve months These appointments will allow us to take photographs so that we can assess the results and review the patient's progress. The patient agrees to follow the schedule proposed by the medical and paramedical team.
