Breast augmentation through lipomodeling is now a well-known procedure that is performed throughout France.

The technique

Breast lipofilling is a breast surgery technique that involves injecting fat into the breast. It is becoming increasingly popular among women who do not want to use artificial silicone gel implants. Breast lipofilling is the ideal aesthetic solution for reshaping the breasts. It involves augmenting and sculpting the breasts by injecting your own fat taken from areas where liposuction has been performed. A mammogram and breast ultrasound are required before the procedure.

Lipofilling, the objectives of the procedure

Breast lipofilling is a breast augmentation technique for women who want:
  • Moderately increase breast size to gain a maximum of one or two cup sizes.
  • Pump up the upper poles of the breasts to improve the visual effect of the cleavage.
  • Hide ribs that are too prominent beyond the base of the breasts, which an implant cannot do.
  • Correct certain defects caused by implants without replacing them, for example when prostheses are visible under the skin or cause a rippling effect.
Fat injection also has a lifting effect on breast support:
  • Reduce ptosis in the breast crease slightly when the breasts are slightly less taut but still firm in order to gain a little tone.
  • Restore firmness and elasticity to less toned breasts.
  • Smooth and beautify a wrinkled décolletage, including in front of the sternum.
  • The patient must, of course, have sufficient fat reserves.

Breast lipofilling, the procedure

The preoperative consultation stages are the same as for conventional breast augmentation. The procedure does not usually require hospitalization and is most often performed on an outpatient basis. It is performed under general anesthesia and lasts between approximately 1.5 and 2.5 hours. The fat is removed using a thin cannula through a 1-2 mm incision at sites chosen in advance. These sites may include the abdomen, the inner knees, or the thighs. You will therefore benefit from liposuction of these areas at the same time as the procedure.

Postoperative care

The postoperative effects of breast lipofilling are not very painful and can be relieved with simple painkillers. In the postoperative phase, the breasts are slightly swollen with some bruising, but they will reach their final size after 2 to 3 months. There is a loss of around 20 to 30% of the initial volume, but once the volume has stabilized, the breast augmentation is permanent. The pain in the areas where fat was harvested depends on the volume extracted. Bruising may be present for 8 to 10 days. The swelling in the areas where fat was harvested and in the breasts disappears within 2 months. It is important not to inject more fat into the breast than it can reasonably accommodate at one time, as this can lead to the destruction of the injected fat, causing inflammation and fatty cysts. Consecutive sessions can be performed 6 months to a year apart.
