Penile lengthening, or penoplasty, is a cosmetic surgery procedure to increase the size of the penis.
Objectives of the intervention
The male sex represents virility. A penis that is considered too small can be perceived as a handicap for some men. This handicap can then lead to real complexes that disrupt the patient's daily life.
Penile lengthening, or penoplasty, is a cosmetic surgery procedure to increase the size of the penis. The purpose of penoplasty is to increase the size and volume of the penis when flaccid and also when erect.
The intervention
In order to alter the diameter of the penis, the surgeon uses the patient's own fat, which is removed by liposuction and then reinjected into the penis via fat transfer.
Secondly, the penis is lengthened by increasing its weight through the reinjection of fatty tissue and by operating on the suspensory ligament, which allows the internal part of the penis to be lengthened.
Both penis lengthening and enlargement surgeries can be performed simultaneously or separately on the penis. Thus, it is possible to lengthen the penis only or to thicken it. During a comprehensive penoplasty, the penis is lengthened and its diameter is thickened simultaneously.
Postoperative care
The postoperative effects are not painful. Only slight edema and noticeable swelling may appear on the penis, which will subside after the first few weeks.
The final result of the penis enlargement can be assessed approximately three months after the operation. The final result of the penis lengthening is achieved more quickly, once the skin has healed (usually four weeks after the operation).
It is advisable to resume sexual activity gradually after three weeks following surgery in order to avoid irritation.
